Black Bird is a reliable, year-round source of quality timber products. We oversee harvest of approximately 1,800 acres per year on Astina Forest AG's woodlands. 

 

The main species we harvest are sugar maple (Acer saccharum), red maple (Acer rubrum), yellow birch (Betula alleghaniensis), white birch (Betula papyrifera), poplar (Populus tremuloides), white spruce (Picea glauca), balsam fir (Abies balsamea), red oak (Quercus rubra) and cedar (Thuja occidentalis). 

 

Our products are log length roundwood.

The primary products we produce, including yearly volumes are:

-  Hardwood pulp (7,000 cords)

-  Hardwood sawlogs (1,200 mfbm)

-  Hardwood veneer logs (100 mfbm)

  

Other minor products include:

-  Softwood logs (Primarily spruce, with balsam fir)

-  Softwood pulp (Primarily spruce, with balsam fir)

-  Poplar pulp

-  Cedar logs

-  Cedar shingles 

-  Cedar posts

-  Firewood

-  Birdseye, curl logs

All products are currently sold within Canada, however brokers ship 70% to the United States for processing. Firewood and low-mid grade logs are sold locally.
